#23 Is this the end or is it just the beginning...
Overall, interesting & thought provoking...much not directly relevant...but does give an idea of the way LIM may move & the challenges ahead.
Podcasts, video & downloadable audio
Interesting tech...not relevant for work, but for public & academic very relevant.

Discovering Web 2.0 tools
For me, I particulary liked Library Thing, particularly as I use LC not Dewey. So many tools...will this translate to Library 2.0?

Technology & social change
Library 2.0 & social change.
This course & the debates around Library 2.0 go to an issue that is not often discussed & debated in the LIM proffession - the relationship between social change & technological development. Some resources that examine this issue include; The social shaping of technology : how the refrigerator got its hum, The social construction of technological systems : new directions in the sociology and history of technology, Social dimensions of information technology : issues for the new millennium, & Technology and the politics of knowledge.

Wikis
Interesting examples, particularly FLICC/FEDLINK. Like a lot of the web 2.0 tools, this has potential for both clients & the LIS profession.

Tagging, folksomonies & social bookmarking in Del.icio.us
Cool tech, for personal use I can see the use & value... but for work? Although I found the Libraries with RSS feeds from the Catalog interesting.

LibraryThing
Interesting site...can see a direct application @ work...could be intergrated into an e-library context, great possibility for replacing our current e-alerts (B&F, Management), with RSS feeds.

Post about anything technology related
The 23 things program is very interesting, & some these will have an application in the LIM profession. In particular, there is scope for the use of collaborative use of tools such as blogs, wiki's & RSS feeds for LIM staff. These tools should enable both a sharing of knowledge & resources between LIM staff, as well as an ability to provide a better service to clients. Perhaps the greatest bar to the effective use of such tools will be twofold. Firstly, the need for better hardware/software, & secondly client acceptance of this mode of communication. Coming from a government law library, cultural resistance to new methods & communications practices could be a substantive issue. Nevertheless, I am sure that the LIM profession will incorporate & adapt these tools to serve the needs of both the profession & our clients, as it has done over the years with IT that is now an integral part of our professional practice.
